The YouTube Survey is a dangerous computer virus that is a browser hijacker plus a redirect virus. The Manual Removal of YouTube Survey

There are both manual as well as the automatic removal method is available to get rid of this virus. The manual removal method is difficult but possible, and consists of the following steps:-

Start the System in Safe Mode

In order to start your computer in the safe mode you have to first reboot the computer and use F8 key to access the boot options. Once you are able to see the boot options, you have to select the safe mode option and hit the enter key to boot the system in the safe mode instead of the normal mode.

Kill the Associated Processes

Open the windows task manager, by holding the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys together. Once the task manager is accessed, select the process tab where you can see a list of running processes. Remove the following associated processes of the YouTube Survey from there:-

  • %AppData%\[RANDOM CHARACTERS]\[RANDOM CHARACTERS].exe

Delete the Associated Files

After accessing the system files folder you have to remove the following malicious files by using the Delete key:-

  • %Desktopdir%\YouTube Survey virus.lnk
  • %Programs%\YouTube Survey virus\YouTube Survey virus.lnk

Reverse the Modification in the Windows Registry

Clean the windows registry by opening the registry editor through “RegEdit” command that can be executed through “Run” option available in the “Start Menu”. Once you are able to see the registry editor, you have to remove the following corrupt entries, and close the registry editor:-

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\YouTube Survey virus
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\YouTube Survey virus\UninstallString “%AppData%[RANDOM CHARACTERS][RANDOM CHARACTERS].exe” -u
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\[RANDOM CHARACTERS] %AppData%\[RANDOM CHARACTERS]\[RANDOM CHARACTERS].exe
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\YouTube Survey virus\ShortcutPath “%AppData%\[RANDOM CHARACTERS]\[RANDOM CHARACTERS].exe” -u
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\YouTube Survey virus\DisplayName YouTube Survey virus
