This lethal adware program uses the keylogers to record your personal details such as credit card information and bank account credentials.

The Manual Removal of popup

After confirming the presence of the popup adware infection, you have to find a way to remove this lethal infection as soon as possible. You can use any reliable automatic tool to get rid of this adware infection; however, if you have skills, you can also remove this nasty infection manually. The steps involved in the manual removal method are mentioned below:-

Change the Mode of Operation from Normal to Safe Mode

First of all you have to start the system in the safe mode to start the manual removal process. Restart the system and hit the F8 key repeatedly to access the boot options menu where you have to chose the Safe mode and hit the Enter key to boot the computer in the safe mode.

End the Malicious Processes

After starting the system in the safe mode, you have to kill the malicious processes associated with the popup infection. Access the windows task manager by holding the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys together and, select the Processes tab to remove the following processes one by one from there:-


Remove the Associated Data

After getting rid of the malicious processes, you have to delete the files associated with this threat. In this regard, you have to remove the following files from the system files folder by using the help of the Delete key:-

  • %Programs%\ popup\ popup.ln

Reverse the Modification in the Windows Registry

Do not forget to clean the windows registry to complete the manual removal process. Open the registry editor with the help of Regedit command that can be Run through the start menu, and delete the following associated entries of the popup infection:-

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ popup\UninstallString “%AppData%[RANDOM CHARACTERS][RANDOM CHARACTERS].exe” -u
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\[RANDOM CHARACTERS] %AppData%\[RANDOM CHARACTERS]\[RANDOM CHARACTERS].exe
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ popup\ShortcutPath “%AppData%\[RANDOM CHARACTERS]\[RANDOM CHARACTERS].exe” -u
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ popup\DisplayName popup

Before running a complete system scan, you have to boot the system in the normal mode to see how effectively you have followed the manual removal instructions.
