the hijack this review
Detect and remove components that help hijackers change your browser’s homepage through HijackThis. It is a tool that lists all installed browser add-on, buttons, startup items and allows you to inspect, and optionally remove selected items. This is achieved by scanning special zones of the registry as well as the hard disk drive and lists their contents. These are areas which are used by both legitimate programmers and hijackers. It’s up to you to decide what should be removed.
HijackThis includes a dozen checks against hijacker tricks and is continually updated to detect and remove new hijacks. The Hijack This program can create a backup of your original settings and also ignore selected items. Additional features include a simple list of all startup items, default start page, online updates and more.
Download HijackThis in to a real directory on your desktop (not in a temporary directory). This is important or you will not be able to “undo” any errors when using Hijack This from a temp directory. Before running Hijack This, you should close all your non-vital programs! This will take some of the trash out of your log. If you have anything disabled by MSConfig or any other startup manager, please re-enable it before scanning to post. Never remove everything. Doing that could leave you with missing items needed to run legitimate programs and add-ins.
You may post your Hijack Log into a “HijackThis” friendly forum only after you read the rules of that forum. Posting logs without reading the rules will usually get your post ignored or deleted. When you post your log, you should tell what problems you are having and which antispyware and antivirus programs that you have already tried. Finally remove the items as directed by the Member helping you. This involves no analysis of the list contents by you. That will be done by the Help Forum Staff.
HijackThis is free and does not need to be installed.
